Hanoi establishes Logistics Association

Hanoi establishes Logistics Association

With the theme "Cohesion - Integration - Development", the Congress determined the mission, the Association will become a bridge between the Hanoi city government and ongoing logistics activities in the area, advising and criticizing policies related to the development of logistics activities in the Capital.

At the first session, the Congress elected the Executive Committee of Hanoi Logistics Association for the term 2022-2025 consisting of 16 members. Mr. Tran Duc Nghia, Director of Delta International Joint Stock Company was elected by the General Meeting to be the Chairman of the Association for the first term.

Speaking at the Congress, Mr. Tran Thanh Hai, Deputy Director General of the Import and Export Department, Ministry of Industry and Trade emphasized the importance of developing logistics human resources, considering this as the key to help Hanoi's logistics enterprises integrate and develop not only in the Vietnamese market but also reach out to the world market.

Mr. Tran Thanh Hai wishes that, in the coming time, the Hanoi Logistics Association and its member enterprises need to have many activities in both breadth and depth, actively coordinate with universities and research institutes in the area to create many beneficial values for Hanoi Capital in particular and the country in general.

Affirming the need to establish the Hanoi Logistics Association, Ms. Tran Thi Phuong Lan, Acting Director of Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade shared that Hanoi currently has 25,000 enterprises operating in the field of logistics. However, these enterprises only meet about 25% of the needs of the city's economic activities, the rest are mainly foreign enterprises.

The city's industry and trade hope that the Hanoi Logistics Association will do well as a bridge between the city government and ongoing logistics activities in the area, advising and criticizing policies related to the development of logistics activities and logistics service providers in the area to contribute to socio-economic development.

Currently, high logistics costs are reducing the competitiveness of Vietnam's economy. This problem is caused by the structure of the economy, from logistics activities being carried out with low efficiency, the suboptimal scale of logistics enterprises, logistics planning has not been paid enough attention and the reasons come from policy institutions.

The establishment of the Hanoi Logistics Association aims to realize the Government's goal of "Strengthening and enhancing the role of associations in the field of logistics" with the ultimate goal of reducing national logistics costs.
As one of the two largest economic centers of the country, Hanoi determined that it is necessary to promote its role as a logistics hub of the northern provinces and cities, in which, the most important thing is to promote the connection of various types of logistics activities, multimodal transport, planning and building logistics centers at the national and regional levels, linking businesses to promote the development of logistics services in the Capital, contributing to the development of the logistics industry nationwide.
